YANKEE Season Summary

Alex Rodriguez did way better than anyone thought.
Mark Teixeira was great until the bone bruise turned out to be a fracture.
The rest of the team did very well with a 7 game lead until the trade deadline and then fell apart. They wound up 6 games behind Toronto, a loss of 13 games.

Bret Gardner is given too much credit. While he is fast and a great fielder, I've always questioned his base running strategy:
Sliding into first, if there is no tag play, run through the bag.
Stealing on the wrong pitch or getting picked off.
Getting cut down stretching to an extra base.
Not watching the runner in front of him leading to two men on the same base.
He is a .250 hitter and finished at .259 this season with 0-4 in the wild card game with three strikeouts.
Nov 4 it was reported that Gardner was playing with a sore wrist. Is an 80% Gardner better than anyone else?

But here are SEVEN things we didn't know.

The Post Season

Awards

November 16, 2015 - It was announced that Yogi Berra and Willie Mays will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
"On behalf of the entire Yankees organization, we congratulate the family of Yogi Berra for his inclusion among upcoming recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This honor is a fitting tribute to a man who not only represented the sport of baseball with unequaled dignity and humor, but exemplified the best virtues of our country through his military service and compassion for others.
