The Post Season

Yankee review of 2017:
With the strong performances of Judge, Sanchez, and Bird (94 homers total), some trades, and clutch performances by many, the team made it to game 7 of the ALCS via the wild card game. This put them 2 years ahead of the planned return to World Series winning seasons.

July 11 - At the All Star break:
Yankees(45-41) in second place 3½ games behind Boston.
Aaron Judge wins the home run derby with 47 total and four 500'+ drives.
AL beat the NL 2-1 in 10 innings, Seattle's Cano hit a 10th inning homer!

Aug 14 to 17 - Yankees sweep four games vs. Mets, two games at each park.
Aug 31 to Sept 3 -
Yankees take 3 of 4 games from Boston, including three homers off of Chris Sale!
With no games remaining vs. the Bosox, they are 3½ games behind and 2 games ahead in the wild card race.

Sept 23 -Yankees clinch at least a wild card spot with a win in Toronto!
Sept 25 -Judge sets the record for homers by a Rookie at 50 and joined other Yankees at that number for a season.

2017 Preview

Nov 17 - The have acquired right-handed pitchers Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman from the Houston Astros in exchange for catcher Brian McCann and cash considerations.

Nov 18 - Traded LHP James Pazos to the Mariners for RHP Zack Littell.
Designated for assignment: RHP Nathan Eovaldi, LHP Joe Mantiply, and RHP Nick Rumbelow for assignment.
Released UTIL Dustin Ackley

Nov 30 - Players and owners agreed to a new five year basic agreement that includeshome field advantage for the World Series, the league pennant winner with the better regular season record gets games 1,2, & 6,7. Thus the nonsense that the All Star mean something beecomes moot. There were other provisions, see the MSN report for details.

Dec 4 - Yankees agreed to terms with outfielder/designated hitter Matt Holliday on a one-year, $13 million contract.

Dec 7 - Aroldis Chapman has the agreed to a five-year, $86 million contract with the Yankees, pending a physical.
Gregorious will miss the first month of the season due to a shoulder injuryduring the WBC.
